General Discussion-Camp Lejeune Water Contamination

Reporting in

Hey folks, my name is Paul, I was in the Marine Corps form 1984-1988.
A few weeks ago I got to thinking about some of my health issues, Psoriasis, RA, and asthma. and how there is no documented family history for these conditions in my family. So I started thinking about when my Psoriasis first started to appear, and that was around 1992-93. Then I started to wonder is some of the chemicals I used in Marine Aviation a contributing factor, so I started looking up TCE, MEK, PD680 and ran across reports of water contamination at Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River. I spent two years at New River working with the above mentioned chemicals on an almost daily basis, and of course drinking the water. I also remember when I was aboard the USS Saipan, that the water smelled like jet fuel and tasted AWFUL! So now, here I am at age 46 wondering if my health issues are linked to this contaminated water, or I was just born with unlucky genes. I am reluctant to add to the work load that is the VA, as I know there are those in far more need for the services of the VA than my achy joints, horrible skin and breathing problems. I downloaded and quickly read the pdf tittled time linked July 2011. Needless to say I was taken aback by what I read.
So I ask, has anyone here heard of RA, Psoriasis, and Asthma being related to the water contamination exposure at CL and MCASNR, and if so, what kind of battle did they have to fight to get the VA to recognize it and approve it?

Thanks in advance.

Well, the more I look in to this contamination issue, I find that I was also temporarily assigned to other Marine Corps installations with contamination histories!
After graduating from NAS Memphis/Millington from my initial basic helicopter maintenance schools, I was assigned to MCAS Tustin for a few weeks for more schools, and then onto MCAS El Toro for schools, MCB Camp Pendalton for my final school, and final duty station was MCAS New River! All of which have documented TCE contamination!
