NAS Meeting

Postby Andrea Byron » Thu Nov 15, 2007 8:30 pm

I spoke with my dad, Jeff, briefly this evening in regards to the NAS Meeting. I don't have a whole lot of information at this point, but I will tell you what I know. It was held at the USO and quite a few people were at the meeting. My dad said there were even a lot of civilians who used to work on base that attended. My dad spoke first. A representative from the geological survey also spoke. Dr. Clapp spoke via teleconference and basically said that further studies should be done. A report that came out in 1983 now cannot be found. Genetic testing was brought up, but they are hesitaant to do any type of DNA testing due to having to get everyone's permission and the fact that the insurance companies may start denying claims to these people based on the DNA testing. A few media outlets were there covering the story. If you see any articles or videos out there covering it, please let me know where I can find it and I'll get it on the website asap. I'm sure I'll get more information in days to come and I will let you know as soon as I do. Thanks again to everyone for all of their help and commitment.

Andrea,
I look forward to the information about the meeting. I wanted to let you know that in reviewing the DOD Authorization Act and several amendments I found that included and passed in the bill was an amendment that would not allow insurance companies to dicriminated against anyone that was tested and came back positive for mutated DNA. I will go back through the amendments and get you the exact information and where it can be found.
Thanks
